BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Kelly Hughes netted a team-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting (3-of-6 from three-point range) and a team-high 11 rebounds. All but four of her points came in the second half, including eight in the fourth quarter.
- Senior Alexa Coulombe recorded six points, five rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals in her fourth start of the season.
- R-freshman Ella Awobajo played 17 strong minutes and pitched in with seven points, two boards and a steal.
- Thanks to solid defensive pressure and good ball movement, the Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 lead over the game's opening 2:13. The Eagles stretched the lead to 15-2 before the Panthers mounted a comeback led by Stasha Carey. Carey contributed 12 points, two steals and a block over a 15-2 run that had the score knotted at 17 after one.
- Carey continued her hot start, scoring the first five points of the quarter and extending Pittsburgh's run to 20-2 before Katie Quandt stopped the bleeding for Boston College with 7:43 remaining in the quarter. The Panthers reeled off a 6-0 run to pull ahead by seven before the Eagles turned to the inside game, using a 6-2 run to get within three, 30-27, at the half.
- Unlike the run-filled first half, both teams traded baskets for the third quarter. Carey paced Pittsburgh with five points while Kelly Hughes stepped up the Eagles with five. Hughes added the exclamation point to her performance in the quarter knocking down a three with three seconds remaining to tie it at 40 heading into the fourth.
- Hughes continued her hot shooting, opening the quarter with a three-pointer and adding eight of her team-high 17 points during a 10-0 run for Boston College. Aysia Bugg ended the drought for Pittsburgh with 4:31 remaining, but it would be the only basket the Panthers would score in the quarter as they were outscored 14-3.
