Two quarterbacks and a linebacker are additions to the BC rosters
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Two freshmen and a graduate transfer student have enrolled at Boston College for the spring (2016) semester, according to head coach Steve Addazio. Quarterbacks Anthony Brown and Patrick Towles and linebacker Ethan Tucky started classes on Tuesday and will practice with the Eagles this spring.
Â
Brown, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller from Tinton Falls, N.J., led St. John Vianney to a 21-2 record as a two-year starter. He threw for 58 touchdowns and 4,496 yards in his career. In 2015, he recorded 33 touchdowns in the air with only five interceptions, passing for 2,298 yards, leading the Lancers to a school-record 11 wins and the NJSIAA Non-Public Group III championship game. Brown also added 604 rushing yards and nine scores on the ground to collect Shore Conference Player of the Year, All-Metro first team and first-team all-state accolades as a senior. He was a semifinalist at Elite 11, a quarterback competition run by Super Bowl-winning QB Trent Dilfer. The three-star recruit had offers from Air Force, Army, Connecticut, Navy, Northwestern, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Â
Towles, a 6-foot-5, 238-pound quarterback from Ft. Thomas, Ky., comes to The Heights after earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky. As a two-year starter, he started 22 games and played in 28 in three years, amassing 5,099 passing yards (427-for-759) with 24 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He also ran for 353 yards and scored 11 rushing touchdowns. In 2014, Towles accounted for more than 3,000 yards total offense in 2014, joining Tim Couch, Dusty Bonner and Jared Lorenzen as the only players in UK history to top the 3,000-yard mark in first season as a starter and he threw 159 consecutive passes without an interception, the second-longest streak in school history. Last season, he accounted for nine TDs through the air and five more on the ground, racking up 2,148 passing yards with 14 interceptions and a 56.1 completion percentage.
Â
Tucky, a 6-foot-3, 218-pound linebacker from Delaware, Ohio, was named All-Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Capital First Team in 2015. He also garnered OCC Co-Player of the Year and AP All-Central District Division II Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
