Boston College Hits Road For Fairfield Invite

Team will play three games in two days vs. Stony Brook, Fairfield and Marshall

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After going undefeated in the Boston College Invitational Tournament to open the season last weekend, Boston College travels to Fairfield University for the Fairfield Invite for three games over two days as part of a six team tournament. The Eagles will kick off play with a 1:30 p.m. matchup vs. Stony Brook. Later Friday evening, the Maroon and Gold will take on the host Stags with the game set for 6:30 p.m.
The Eagles will have Saturday morning off as they prepare for their final game of the tournament, a scheduled 5:30 p.m. matchup with Marshall University.

GAME NOTES
• After recording 41 kills in her two games played at the Boston College Invitational, outside hitter Katty Workman has moved into third place in the Boston College record book with 1,299 career kills, passing Dorota Niemczewska (2003-2006) 1,297 kills. She also is now only 150 kills shy of the Boston College career record of 1,449 career kills, recorded by Kelsey Johnson (2004-2007).
• Boston College is 7-2 all-time against Fairfield, dating back to 1990. The Eagles have won the last two matchups against Fairfield, including the most recent matchup on September 7, 2013 when BC defeated the Stags three sets to one as part of the Boston College Invitational
• The Maroon and Gold are a combined 1-1 all-time against their other two opponents this weekend. In 1999, BC lost to Marshall University in their only other career matchup while they defeated Stony Brook 3-2 on September 5, 2008 while playing in the Ram Classic Invitational held at the University of Rhode Island.

Following the weekend tournament, BC will remain on the road for their next competition when they travel to the University of New Hampshire in Durham for the Holly Young Invitational September 11-12.
