Boston College travels to UNH for three games this weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - For the second weekend in a row, Boston College will be on the road when they travel to the University of New Hampshire in Durham for the Holly Young Invitational Tournament Sept.11-12.
The Holly Young Invitational is an annual four team tournament that honors Holly Young, a former New Hampshire Volleyball player who lost her battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in 2008.
Boston College will kick off the tournament Friday afternoon when they play Michigan State before facing Delaware and host UNH on Saturday.

The Spartans enter the matchup with a 3-3 record after having lost the last two games to Virginia Tech and Miami (Ohio) in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan. Prior to those losses, State was ranked No. 19 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Poll. The Spartans are led by Allyssah Fitterer, who has a team high 77 kills, and Alyssa Garvelink, who leads with 29 total blocks. Friday's matchup will be only the second time that the two schools have played each other. In 2007, Michigan State defeated Boston College 3-0 in their match, part of the Boston College/Northeastern Invitational.

The Delaware Blue Hens travel to New Hampshire following a 1-2 performance in the NC State Hilton Garden Inn Cary Classic after falling to Ole Miss and NC State by a score of 3-0. On the season, Delaware has amassed a 2-4 record with their two wins over Central Florida and Jacksonville. They are led by Katie Hillman and Autumn Jenkins, who have combined for 154 kills in 25 sets played. Boston College will be playing Delaware for just the third time in program history, dating back to 1995. Coach Campbell's squad will seek to earn their first win all-time against Delaware.

With 15 previous matchups between Boston College and New Hampshire, the Wildcats are the Eagles most familiar foe that they will face this weekend. The Maroon and Gold have won the last four matchups with New Hampshire, including their most recent matchup in 2010 when the Eagles routed UNH in five sets at the Harvard Invitational. After dropping their first two games of the season, the Wildcats have won six straight games, including sweeping the Fairfield Invitational last weekend and are led by Demi Muses and Tori Forrest, who have 93 and 91 kills respectively.
Game Notes:
• In the most recent NCAA Division I statistics released this past week, Boston College was well represented in individual statistical categories. Sophomore Brittany Pavich was ranked eighth amongst all Division I players with her .477 hitting percentage while senior outside hitter Katty Workman ranked 15th with her 4.67 kills per set average.
• Workman continued to dominate the performance on the court at the Fairfield Invite as she climbs up the Boston College record book. With 43 kills this past weekend, Katty Workman is now 23 kills away from second place in individual career kills, held by Rachel Bach (1999-2002). Workman is also 107 kills away from Kelsey Johnson's (2004-07) all-time career kills record of 1449.
• Last weekend, Boston College went 1-2 in the Fairfield Invitational as they defeated Stony Brook 3-0 before falling to Fairfield and Marshall in five sets each. The Eagles are 4-2 on the season.
• Following the Holly Young Invitational, Boston College will return to the Heights on Thursday, Sept. 17 for their matchup against Northeastern as part of the New England Challenge, hosted by Harvard University. The Eagles will play at home in the first night of the tournament before traveling across town to face Connecticut and Harvard on Saturday, Sept. 19.
