Three Eagles Earn IWLCA All-American Status

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College junior midfielder Sarah Mannelly and senior attack Covie Stanwick were honored as IWLCA First Team All-Americans while fourth-year midfielder Mikaela Rix was tabbed as a Second Team All-American as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Monday afternoon.
Mannelly, Boston College's first-ever Tewaaraton finalist scored at least one goal in every game this year, including a season-high five against Syracuse in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship on April 23. She took a team-high 1127 shots and collected 31 ground balls this season. Her 21 caused turnovers are the most on the Eagles' squad, while her 34 draw controls are second on the squad.
The New Canaan, Conn., native earned IWLCA All-Northeast Regional honors on May 13, along with Standwick and Rix. Mannelly received Third-Team IWLCA All-Northeast Region honors last year.
Stanwick led the Eagles with 76 points and matched Mannelly for the most goals on the team with 50. The Baltimore native attempted 92 shots, third most on the club, and came away with 20 draw controls. Stanwick was heralded as an IWLCA Second Team All-American in 2014.
Rix, a First Team All-American last season, scored 47 points in just 14 games played. The Garden City, N.Y., native missed five games due to injury and still finished third for the Eagles with 40 goals on the year. Rix also triggered 95 times, second most on the team, and lead Boston College with 48 draw controls.
All three Eagles helped BC tie its program record by accumulating 15 victories in 2015.
The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa.
