Shaw, Westphal Named Eagles of the Week
April 07, 2015 | Baseball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Chris Shaw (baseball) and senior Liv Westphal (women's track and field) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.
Shaw hit .526 in five games last week and had a huge day in the series finale at Wake Forest, going 4-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBIs in the win. One of the homers was a grand slam. Shaw is one of six players in the country and the only player in the ACC to hit three home runs in a game. He had four homers and 10 RBIs last week.
Westphal shattered the BC 5000m record on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational, finishing with a time of 15:33.33. That time broke Jennifer Kramer's 2004 record by nearly 50 seconds and it was good enough for third place in the elite event. Westphal's time qualifies her for the both the NEICAAA and ACC Championships later this season.
Baseball (13-16, 5-9 ACC) has midweek games at Dartmouth and vs. Northeastern before hosting Clemson this weekend for three games. Women's track and field will compete in the Minutemen Invitational in Amherst on Saturday.
