BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior LHP Nick Poore earned his second win of the season with a four-inning start, allowing just two hits, no walks and striking out four.
- Sophomore RHP Justin Dunn pitched the ninth and picked up his team-leading fifth save. He struck out two and did not allow a hit.
- The pitching staff of Poore, senior RHP Eric Stone, redshirt junior RHP Geoffrey Murphy, junior RHP John Nicklas and Dunn combined for the Eagles' fourth shutout and third in the last four games. For the fourth straight game, the Eagles did not walk a batter.
- Junior Joe Cronin belted a solo shot into the Green Monster seats for his third home run of the season. He went 2-for-4 with a double off the wall.
- Junior Logan Hoggarth led the way at the plate for the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
- Freshman Jake Palomaki was 2-for-4 with an RBI, extending his on-base streak to 23 games.
KEY PLAYS
- Cronin's home run put the Eagles on the board and Palomaki drove in another run with the bases loaded in the fifth for BC's two scores.
- The Eagles pitchers kept the Minutemen off the board, allowing just four hits and combining for 11 strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles scored in the first on a two-out home run by Cronin. He launched one into the Monster seats to give BC an early lead.
- BC tallied another run in the fifth, loading the bases with one down in the inning on two walks and a single by Hoggarth. Palomaki drove in the second run of the game with a single to center. A double play ended BC's scoring chances.
- The Eagles loaded the bases again in the sixth, but could not push a run across. Cronin led off with a double off the wall and sophomore Michael Strem followed with a single through the left side. Hoggarth drew a two-out walk, but a strikeout left the bases loaded.
- Stone pitched the fifth and sixth and allowed just one hit while striking out two.
- Murphy came on in relief and struck out the side in the seventh, allowing just one hit. Nicklas pitched the eighth and hit a batter with one down. The Eagles turned a 643 double play to get out of inning. Dunn hit a batter in the ninth with one out, but came back to end the game with back-to-back strikeouts.
