Burke, Ochoa Named Eagles of the Week
March 24, 2015 | Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Jeff Burke (baseball) and sophomore Zoe Ochoa (lacrosse) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.
Burke picked up his first win of 2015 in the 3-1 victory over NC State on Friday, the first ACC victory for the Eagles. The Chattanooga, Tenn., product threw 7.1 innings, allowing just five hits and one run while walking two and striking out three. He retired nine straight from the second to the fifth inning. It was the fourth time Burke allowed just one earned run or less pitching at least five innings.
Ochoa came up with a save in overtime to help the Eagles upset No. 2/3 North Carolina and maintain a perfect 9-0 record (4-0 ACC). BC turned the ball over in the second overtime period, causing a North Carolina offensive rush. After defending a Tar Heel player, Ochoa lunged from behind the net to come up with a big save (one of nine) and preserve the Eagles' 10-9 overtime win.
Baseball (6-13, 1-7 ACC) has midweek games at Northeastern and Holy Cross this week before playing Duke this weekend in a three-game series in Delaware. Lacrosse begins a five-game homestand on Wednesday against Colorado, then it hosts Virginia on Saturday and USC on Monday.
