· The Eagles took the lead with two in the seventh on RBIs by sophomore Johnny Adams and senior Blake Butera.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Jayhawks scored two in the third two take an early lead. After back-to-back singles and a sac bunt to move into scoring position, Joven Afenir hit a sac fly to left to bring in the first run of the game. Colby Wright followed with a single through the right side before Gorman forced a groundout to end the inning.
· Kansas added two more in the fourth in similar fashion. With two on, a sacrifice moved runners into scoring position and a chopper to third by Steve Goldstein plated one run. Junior third baseman Joe Cronin did not cleanly field the ball, allowing Goldstein to reach. With two down, Justin Protacio singled to center to bring a run but the Eagles were able to gun down Goldstein at the plate to end the inning.
·The Eagles scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to tie the game. In the fourth, junior Gabriel Hernandez reached on an error and came around to score on a double by Butera.
·In the fifth, BC tallied three infield singles en route to tying the game. With one down, Casey beat a throw to first on chopper to third and Sciortino followed with a single up the middle. Adams made it a two-run game with a high chopper over the head of the third baseman, into shallow left field. After Sciortino moved to third on a wild pitch, freshman Jake Palomaki plated him with an infield single to short. Butera tied the game by grounding out to short, bringing in Adams.
·With lefty Blake Weiman on the mound, Sciortino led off the seventh with a triple to right center and Adams brought him home with a double to left to give BC its first lead of the game. Palomaki moved Adams over with a sac bunt and Butera plated him with a sac fly to make it 6-4 Eagles.
