BC HIGHLIGHTS
· Junior Chris Shaw recorded a two-run single in back-to-back games. He has reached base safely in the last 27 games.
· Junior Gabriel Hernandez led the way for the Eagles with a 2-for-3 day, with a run, stolen base and two walks. He tied a career-long, seven-game hit streak, dating back to 2014.
· Senior Blake Butera drew a walk, which brought in a run for the Eagles and upped his career total to 95, which is good to tie for fourth in BC record books.
· Sophomore Michael Strem doubled on a 1-for-4 night. Six of his 10 hits in 2015 are doubles. He also extended his career-long hit streak to seven games, dating back to last season.
KEY PLAYS
· After the Eagles took a two-run lead in the fifth, responding to a 2-0 deficit, the Tigers came back by scoring three to go up by one. It was a lead they would hold onto and extend to win the game.
· Jared Foster and Mark Laird belted back-to-back doubles to tie the game and Laird scored on a wild pitch to give LSU the lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead, scoring one in the first and one in the second. Foster led off with a triple to left but junior RHP Jeff Burke got a strikeout and popup for two quick outs. Chris Chinea came through with a double to right to make it 1-0. In the second, Andrew Stevenson led off with an infield single and moved to third on two stolen bases. Bryce Jordan plated him with a sac fly to center.
· The Eagles took the lead with a four-run fifth. Sophomore Johnny Adams struck out but reached on a wild pitch and stole second to move into scoring position. Junior Stephen Sauter singled up the middle to bring in Adams. Freshman Jake Palomaki laid down a bunt single and Hernandez drew a walk to load the bases. Butera's patience at the plate paid off as he walked to bring in the tying run. With the bases still loaded, Shaw singled to right to score two and give BC a 4-2 lead.
· LSU retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, going up, 5-4. Jordan was hit by a pitch and moved into scoring position on a groundout. Foster plated him with a double just fair down the left-field line. Foster scored on a Laird double. With new pitcher junior LHP Jesse Adams on the hill, Laird moved to third on a fly ball and scored on a wild pitch before a fly out ended the inning.
· The Tigers scored another run in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead as Jordan tallied his second sac fly of the night.
· LSU made it a 7-4 game in the seventh as Adams loaded the bases on two walks and a single. Chinea hit a long fly to center, which Hernandez ran down for the out, plating one on a sacrifice fly. Adams got out of the inning with a strikeout and groundout.
