Boston College improved to 4-0 as the Eagles defeated Boston University, 58-37, on Saturday afternoon at Case Gym. BC has not opened the season 4-0 since the 2010-11 season. BU is now 0-3.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Kelly Hughes led Boston College with 15 points, while shooting 5-for-7 from long range. She also had four rebounds and three steals.
- Freshman Mariella Fasoula pitched in with 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Sophomore Emilee Daley finished the game with six points, five rebounds and four steals in 19 minutes.
- The Eagles held BU scoreless a little over nine minutes starting at 2:37 in the second until a little over a minute left in the third period. BC's outscored BU, 15-6, as Kelly Hughes hit three three's in the third stanza.
- Nicole Boudreau opened the game with three free throws after being fouled from behind the arc. That sparked an 8-0 BC run, which led to an early timeout by BU. BC took an early 11-5 lead behind three straight three's from Kelly Hughes. A three-pointer from Nicole Boudreau extended the Eagles lead to 14-5.
- BU opened the quarter with a 4-0 run but an inside hoop by Mariella Fasoula pushed BC's lead to 20-15. BC held BU to two points in the final four minutes and took a 31-19 halftime lead. .
- The Eagles opened up the third period with a 7-0 run. Fasoula, Mosetti and a three by Hughes gave BC a 38-19 lead. A long three from the top by Hughes extended the Eagles lead, 41-19. BC held BU to just six points in the period. The Terriers scored all six points in the final minute. BC took a 46-25 lead into the final stanza.
- Fasoula scored twice inside and Hughes hit another long three as BC went up, 54-33.
GAME NOTES
- Boston College started Ella Awobajo, Katie Quandt, Martina Mosetti, Nicole Boudreau and Kelly Hughes for the fourth consecutive game.
- BC took just seven three's in the first half. Nicole Boudreau and Kelly Hughes hit one long range shot apiece. Hughes hit four in the second half and finished 5-for-7 on the day. She is shooting over 56 percent from arc. While averaging 29.3 minutes per game, Hughes has only committed one turnover in the four games.
- The Eagles shot 82 percent from the foul line (14-for-17).
- BC won the battle of the boards, 37-33, as rookie Mariella Fasoula grabbed a career-high nine. The Eagles also had 28 points off the bench, while BU had 16.

Boston College (3-0) will travel to Freeport, Bahamas next week to play Oklahoma on Friday and Utah on Saturday. The Eagles will return home only to head to Indiana to play in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge at Purdue on Thursday, Dec. 3.
