Boston College races four boats in three events on weekend

The Boston College women's rowing program will kick off its 2015-16 fall season this weekend when it competes in the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Eagles home course along the Charles River. In its 51st year, the HOCR attracts 11,000 competitors and 400,000 spectators from around the world to the banks of the Charles for the annual event, and this year, Boston College will race four boats in three events on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Club Four will kick off racing for the BC women on Saturday at 1:35 p.m. in the 17th event of the day. Two events later, the Eagles will compete in the Women's Club Eight with two boats beginning at 2:19 p.m. BC's "A" entry will lead the way starting at bow 13, while the freshman "B" entry will enter in bow 34. This will be the first race for the nine members of the Club Eight "B" boat as members of the women's rowing team.

Then on Sunday, the Boston College Varsity Eight boat will compete in the Championship Eight event, scheduled to begin at 2:44 p.m. The Championship Eights are the premier event of the regatta, showcasing some of the fastest collegiate crews as well as the United States National Team.

Additionally, Boston College Alums from 1976-2015 will represent the Eagles in the Alumni Eight event, scheduled to begin at 12:54 p.m. on Saturday.
