On his 30th birthday, former baseball captain Pete Frates had the world behind him.
After spearheading more than $120 million in donations to ALS research this summer with the viral #IceBucketChallenge, Frates has been recognized far and wide for his efforts to combat the unforgiving disease, including "Inspiration of the Year" by Sports Illustrated.
On December 28, Frates was recognized locally as he turned 30 yards old. More than 68,000 fans at Gillette Stadium sang "Happy Birthday" to him as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft led the crowd in singing.
Check out the Patriots' tribute to Frates below, as well as the crowd's rendition of "Happy Birthday."
