Lacrosse Nabs Three Spots on All-Region Team

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three members of the Boston College women's lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast Region First Team, as announced on Thursday. Grad student Kristin Igoe, freshman Covie Stanwick and freshman Mikaela Rix earned All-Region accolades and are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on May 27.
This marks the fifth-straight year that BC has had three or more student-athletes earn All-Region recognition.
"Kristin, Mikaela and Covie are great assets for the BC program, but it is a special honor to see them recognized among the top players in the Northeast," head coach Acacia Walker said. "All three of these student-athletes have an incredible work ethic and passion for the game that helped our team all season long and I am proud of their accomplishments."
Igoe made BC history by earning this accolade for the fourth-consecutive year. In 2012, the Framingham, Mass., native led the Eagles in goals (49), points (60), game-winning goals (3), ground balls (52) and caused turnovers (29).
Stanwick and Rix were the only two rookies to earn All-Northeast Region honors this season. In 2012, Stanwick posted a team-high 27 assists to top the school's freshmen record list. Rix finished the season second on the team with 38 goals and third with 48 points.
