Softball Heads to Bryant, Hosts Virginia Tech

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team sees midweek action against Bryant University, before opening a three-game ACC series at home against Virginia Tech on Saturday, April 14.
Boston College won its last two meetings against Bryant, 8-0, 3-0, while going 2-13 versus Virginia Tech since joining the ACC. The Eagles are scoring 4.0 runs per game and allowing 3.9 each contest.
The Eagles (19-16, 1-8 ACC) are 3-7 in the last 10 games, having fallen in the last five contests. During that stretch, BC is batting .227, has been outscored 37-49 and is 3-2 at home and 0-5 on the road.
Senior Brittany Wilkins carries one of the conference's highest batting averages (.370) and slugging percentages (.609). Junior Nicole D'Argento is at the top of the lineup with 37 hits, seven home runs and 24 runs batted in. The pitcher also leads the squad in innings pitched (93.0) and strikeouts (76).
Bryant (10-17, 3-3 NEC) has won its last three games and is 6-4 in the previous 10 games. The Bulldogs average 4.8 runs per game, while allowing 7.1. Aubrey Mable leads the team across several categories: batting average (.392), slugging percentage (.747), on-base percentage (.495), home runs (6), RBI (21), runs (23) and hits (31). Jennifer Jacob (6-12) and Brittany Hart (4-5) have shared the starts this year and carry ERAs over 6.60.
Virginia Tech (28-14, 7-4 ACC) meets Longwood in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 11. The Hokies had a 10 game win-streak snapped by No. 21 Florida State last weekend. VT is batting .246 on the year and is posting 4.5 runs per game. Jasmin Harrell (17-9) has handled the majority of the time on the mound, making 30 appearances. Harrell carries a 1.87 ERA and has 125 strikeouts in 161.0 innings. Courtney Liddle leads the Hokies in batting (.300) and slugging (.464).
