CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College freshman goalkeeper Emily Mata was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 27, according to an announcement made by the conference on Tuesday.
Mata was strong in net for BC last week, turning in back-to-back, complete-game performances, including a win over Harvard. The Serverna Park, Md., native allowed just 15 goals in two games, while accumulating 23 saves on 56 shots.
Mata's 15 saves against North Carolina on March 24 set a new career-best and accounted for the Tar Heels' lowest goal output in a win so far this season.
Boston College returns to action on Saturday, March 31 at Virginia.
