Baseball Heads to Fort Myers

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team is heading back to Florida to play a three-game series with Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. The Eagles will also play their annual exhibition game with the Boston Red Sox at the brand new Jet Blue Park.
The games against FGCU will be broken up as the Eagles will play Thursday, Friday and Sunday and will face the Red Sox on Saturday. The game against Boston's professional team starts at 7:05 p.m. and will be broadcast on NESN. The two teams have faced each other 21 times with the Red Sox winning every time.
The Eagles started their season, 3-0, but lost two of out three to 19th-ranked UCF last weekend. All three games were decided by one run. BC entered the series with FGCU 4-2. The Gulf Coast Eagles will play Michigan on Wednesday before battling the BC Eagles. Prior to the game with the Wolverines, FGCU was 4-3 after taking a three-game series over Bryant. Pitcher Brandon Bixten went 8.2 innings before giving up a hit in the team's 5-1 win on Sunday.
The two teams last faced each other in 2009, when they split a two-gams series in Fort Myers on March 3 and 4. BC won the first game, 7-6, and FGCU took the second, 6-4. Current senior Matt Brazis and Nate Bayuk pitched 0.1 innings apiece, tallying an out against the only batter they faced in the first game. During the second game, current junior RHP Taylor Lasko shouldered the loss, going 4.0 innings, allowed six hits, five runs, two earned, three walks and struck out five. Bayuk pitched 0.1 innings that day and gave up one hit.
