No. 4 Seeded Eagles Face Virginia Tech

Cary, NC- The No. 4 seed Boston College women's lacrosse team will face No. 5 seed Virginia Tech in the first game of the ACC tournament Thursday, at 5:00 p.m. at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, NC. Boston College leads the series with Virginia Tech, 4-2, with their latest loss to the Hokies coming in March, 12-11 in Blacksburg.
The No. 11 Eagles enter Thursday's matchup with a 10-5 record and 1-4 in ACC play, while Virginia Tech is 10-7 overall and 1-4 in league play as well. Earning the No. 4 seed ties the program's highest seed ever in the tough ACC tournament. Boston College's No. 11 national ranking is the highest ever in the program's history (reached No. 12 in 1994).
Boston College is coming off a 20-8 victory over UVM, in which junior Brittany Wilton and Brooke Blue scored five goals each and five other Eagles tallied goals.
The Eagles continue to get strong performances from Wilton, who leads the team in draw controls (81) and is second in goals scored (34), behind Kristin Igoe (36). Igoe also leads the team in caused turnovers (29) and points (49). Senior Jill Rekart (22 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers) junior Kate Collins (18 ground balls) and goaltender Sheila Serafino, continue to anchor the BC defense.
Igoe and Wilton were recently named to the All-ACC Team as voted on by the six head coaches to determine the 18-member squad.
The winner of Thursday's matchup will face No. 1 Maryland, Friday at 5:00 p.m.
