Fencing Sweeps New England Championship

BC Fencing swept the New England Team Championships at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., winning both the men's and women's team events, and combining to take home the six-weapon trophy.
This is the third year in row that BC has won the six-weapon event. Along with the team results, BC earned 4 Bronzes and a Gold in the individual rounds.
The women's team won by a single bout--91-90 over Brandeis. Foil and epee team rounds were fenced first, and the women's team started the sabre rounds in third place, trailing both Wellesley (64) and Brandeis (61) with 57 wins. An outstanding performance by the sabre squad closed the gap, with BC winning 34 bouts to Wellesley's 19 and Brandeis' 29. All three sabre fencers, Molly Wolfe, Olivia Curry, and Chelsea Rosenbauer qualified for the individual round, with Curry finishing 6th and Rosenbauer taking the bronze.
Anabel Young in epee, and all three foilists, Erin Hynes, Jennifer Colacino, and Christine Cook made the individual round. Colacino took Bronze after a four-way tie for first triggered a fence off. Young placed sixth in epee.
The women's foil squad shared the Vitale Cup for best overall squad record with Wellesley. Each squad had 37 wins.
The men's team won by a more comfortable margin, finishing with 78 wins to Sacred Heart's 73. Both the sabre and epee squads placed at the top of their respective divisions, with foil finishing second by one bout.
All three epeeists, Brian Like, Albert Starshak, and Kendall Harmeyer, advanced to the individual round where Starshak took the Bronze. In foil, Sjur Hoftun and Patrick Riley made the individual round, finishing 6th and 3rd respectively.
Calvin Chau made the individual final in Sabre along with Peter Souders, who took the gold. Souders was undefeated in the individuals.
