CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Lonnie Jackson scored a career-high 26 points to lead Boston College past Bryant, 75-55, Sunday afternoon in front of 3,563 fans at Conte Forum.
Jackson went 8-for-13 from the field and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. He is the first BC player to hit seven 3-pointers in a game since Tyrese Rice did it against North Carolina on March 1, 2008. Jackson also hauled in five rebounds.
Freshman Ryan Anderson recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 boards. His rebound total was the most by a BC player this year. Freshman Dennis Clifford had 10 points and six rebounds and classmate Jordan Daniels dished out nine assists while not committing a turnover.
The Eagles had a season-high 21 assists on 28 baskets and turned the ball over a season-low nine times. BC also got 21 points off the bench to Bryant's four.
The Eagles started the game on an 18-4 run in the first 6:43, getting an assist on each of their first six baskets. Jackson led the way for BC with six points in that stretch. BC maintained a double-digit lead until the 5:12 mark of the half when a pair of Frankie Dobbs free throws made it a 27-19 BC lead. Those points were part of a quick 8-2 Bryant run.
The Bulldogs then closed out the half on a 13-5 run to cut their deficit to just two points, 34-32. Dobbs led the Bryant attack with five points.
BC started the second half just like the first, scoring the first 10 points to build a 44-32 lead. Jackson scored eight of the 10 points in the run and 11 of the first 13 points overall. The Eagles maintained the double-digit lead under the 10-minute mark, and then went on a decisive 18-8 run over the next seven minutes to build a 70-49 lead. Jackson and Clifford both had six points in that span.
Bryant (1-10) had three players in double figures, led by Dobbs who scored 15 points. Ben Altit had 14 points and Alex Francis scored 13 while bringing down eight rebounds.
BC (4-7) is back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. in Conte Forum.
