Spatola, Wiswall Named To All-New England Team

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior OF John Spatola and junior INF Mickey Wiswall have both been named to the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Team.
Spatola earned first team accolades while Wiswall was placed on the second team. By virtue of their selections, they will be members of the Division I All-Star Team for the NEIBA All-Star Game to be played at Fenway Park on June 6 at 3 p.m.
Spatola, a former walk-on who became captain this season, stepped into the clean-up spot this year and delivered. He belted 17 homers and drove in 61 runs while batting .316 and stealing 13 bases. His 17 home runs are the third-most in a single season at BC and his 61 RBI are tied for fifth with Wiswall. Spatola had 22 career round-trippers which is ninth all-time.
Wiswall smashed 19 home runs this year which was the most since 2001 and the second-most in a single season. He also recorded 61 RBI and batted .301 with 56 runs, 14 doubles, three triples and seven steals. He slugged a team-best .627 and had an on-base percentage of .398. The 56 runs he scored this season ranks fourth on the single season charts. Wiswall also ranks second in career homers (37), third in RBI (152) and hits (208) and eighth in runs (133).
