CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Mickey Wiswall hit a pair of solo home runs but the Boston College baseball team lost to No. 16 Connecticut, 11-7, Monday afternoon at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field.

Sophomore Anthony Melchionda and senior Mike Sudol both continued their hot hitting. Melchionda went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the game while Sudol was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer. Connecticut jumped ahead early in the game and went on to build a 10-1 lead after three and a half innings. Pierre LePage wasted no time and took the first pitch of the game over the wall in left for a quick 1-0 UConn lead.
The Huskies tacked on another run in the second when John Andreoli hit an RBI single up the middle on a full count to make it 2-0.
Boston College got one of the runs back in the bottom half of the second. Freshman Matt Watson and Melchionda both walked with one out and after the second out was recorded, Zapenas pulled the first pitch he saw for an RBI single to cut the deficit in half.
UConn responded with two more runs in the third to build a three-run lead. Mike Olt drew a leadoff walk and Doug Elliot singled with one out to put a pair on base. Andreoli and LePage both hit RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Huskies pulled away with six runs in the fourth. George Springer took the first pitch of the frame over the wall in dead center and Olt followed with an RBI triple to the gap in right to make it 6-1. Kevin Vance brought in another run with an RBI single and then Andreoli made it 8-1 with a sac fly. LePage brought in the other two runs with a double to the gap in right.
BC loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth but was only able to get one run out of it. Watson, Melchionda and Sudol all singled to start the inning and Zapenas drove in a run with a sac fly, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the inning.
Sudol put two more runs on the board for BC in the sixth with a two-run homer with two outs to make it 10-4 and then Wiswall added a solo shot in the seventh to cut the deficit to five runs.
The Eagles scored another run in the eighth but left some runs hanging. BC loaded the bases with no outs again thanks to a Melchionda single and two walks. Sophomore Andrew Lawrence came on to pinch hit and brought in a run with a sac fly then senior Robbie Anston loaded the bases again with a single, but another 6-4-3 inning-ending double play stopped the rally.
