Kuechly Named To American Football Coaches Association All-America Team

Boston College sophomore linebacker Luke Kuechly has been named to the 2010 American Football Coaches Association's All-America team, the AFCA announced today.
Kuechly leads the nation in tackles (171, 14.25 per game) and solo tackles (102, 8.50 per game) and is a part of a Boston College defense that is best in the nation against the run (80.17 ypg.). He has registered 10 or more tackles in 21 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation. He became the fastest Boston College player ever to record 200 tackles, reaching the milestone in the 17th game of his career, and is the only BC player to record 300 tackles in his first two seasons, doing so in his 23rd game.
Joining Kuechly on the All-America team defense are DL Da'Quan Bowers (Clemson); DL Adrian Clayborn (Iowa); DL Jabaal Sheard (Pittsburgh); DL Ryan Kerrigan (Purdue); LB Greg Jones (Michigan State); LB Tank Carder (TCU); DB Reggie Rembert (Air Force); DB Patrick Peterson (LSU); DB Prince Amukamara (Nebraska), and DB Quinton Carter (Oklahoma).
The All-America team offense includes WR Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State); WR Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina); TE Lance Kendricks (Wisconsin); OL Lee Ziemba (Auburn); OL Rodney Hudson (Florida State); C Chase Beeler (Stanford); OL Stefen Wisniewski (Penn State); OL Gabe Carimi (Wisconsin); QB Cam Newton (Auburn); RB Kendall Hunter (Oklahoma State), and RB LaMichael James (Oregon).
The specialists are P Kyle Martens (Rice), PK Will Snyderwine (Duke), and AP Owen Marecic (Stanford).
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945.
