Princeton Invitational Results
The Boston College men's cross country team took eighth place on 217 points at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, October 16. Sophomore Louis Serafini led the way for the Eagles, turning out a personal record time of 25:08.4 over the eight kilometer course for 25th place in a field of 143 runners.
"Louis looked great in his second race of the season," head coach Matt Kerr said. "He looked more comfortable up front this week which led to another personal best 8k."
The meet featured 13 programs, with three teams carrying national rankings and five currently holding spots in their regions. Texas, the NCAA No. 30, won the team competition with 23 points. Host Princeton (No. 18) took second with 69 points and unranked Haverford took third behind 74 points.
"The team had another solid performance to back up what they did the previous week," head coach Matt Kerr said. "I am pleased with that consistency and I feel like our best races are ahead of us."
The entire Eagle lineup ran at or below their personal records (PR) to improve upon a ninth place finish a year ago.
Crossing the line second for BC was sophomore Jordan Hamm. The Java Center, N.Y. native came in at 25:24.30 taking 40th overall. Hamm has been the Eagles No. 2 runner in each of the last two meets.
"Jordan is starting to show us why we recruited him 2 years ago," Kerr stated. "He's a real talent. After some ups and downs last year, he is showing us that he's a competitor and he's improving every week."
Sophomore Danny Kane made his second appearance as the Eagles No. 3 runner. Kane established a new PR of 25:39.9 as the 60th runner to cross the finish line.
Upperclassmen Ian Thomas and Mike Keebler completed the scoring for Boston College. Thomas was a few second shy of equaling his best mark, taking 67th in a time of 25:49.2, while Keebler posted his fasted mark of the year at 26:01.2 for 78th.
Also running for BC were junior Akash Chougule (26:43.0 PR) and sophomores Theodore Doyle (26:35.9), Jack Linehan (26:38.4 PR), Michael Masse (26:41.0 PR), James Glover (26:42.4) and Nahed Lakkis (26:47.0).
Boston College will compete again at the Mayor's Cup on Saturday, October 24, in Franklin Park, Boston, Mass. For more information about the Mayor's Cup, please visit the Boston Athletic Association website.
