Kuechly Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - True freshman LB Luke Kuechly has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week, the league announced today.
Kuechly earned his second consecutive Player of the Week honor (Rookie) and second Defensive Back of the Week accolade of the season for his efforts in the Eagles' 19-17 win over Maryland in which he registered a game-high 16 tackles, including seven solo stops.
Kuechly came up with a big stop for the Eagles as they led 16-10 and faced a fourth-and-inches with less than five minutes to go. The Cincinnati, OH product came up with the stop when he hurdled the Terrapin offensive line to tackle Maryland quarterback Jamarr Robinson. The turnover set up a Boston College field goal that gave the Eagles a nine-point lead.
Kuechly ranks second in the nation in solo tackles (81) and total tackles (142) and has recorded 10 or more tackles in each of the last eight games.
