Women's Track Wins Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. - The Boston College women's track team opened the New Year by taking first place at the Dartmouth Relays this weekend at Leverone Field House. Graduate student Mary Heitkamp, junior Brielle Chabot, and the distance medley team all won their respective events.
BC won the event with a total of 80 points while Dartmouth came in second with 73. Northeastern finished in third with 64.5 points.
Heitkamp finished first in the 800m run with a time 2:13.39 while Chabot earned the top spot in the 3000m at 10:15.28. The distance medley relay team combined for a time of 11:51.99 which was 34 seconds better than the second place squad.
Freshman Anna Cioffredi finished fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.92 seconds in the final heat, which was her best performance of the day. Fellow freshman Casey Hsiung took second in the 400m dash but was the top collegiate performer. She recorded a time of 59.80.
Boston College had two other runners finish in the top four in the 800m besides Heitkamp. Junior Samantha Gawrych and sophomore Siobhan Breagy finished third and fourth, respectively, with times of 2:15.87 and 2:16.14.
Graduate student Nikki Tufts earned a third place finish in the mile with a time of 5:03.53. Freshman Kelsey Huckins finished fifth in the both the shot put and the weight throw with marks of 12.41m and 14.91m, respectively. Her weight throw performance is the third best toss in BC history.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, January 15 when they participate in the BU Multi-Team Meet at the Terriers' Track and Tennis Center.
