Three Athletes Named to All-ACC Academic Lacrosse Team

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College junior Emily Hannigan, junior Maura Mahoney and sophomore Lauren Costello have been named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic women's lacrosse team as announced today by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Hannigan, a native of Needham, MA, is a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic team. She started all 17 games as a defender, was second on the team in caused turnovers (21) and was third in ground balls (22) and draw controls (23). Additionally, she had nine points on the strength of five goals and four assists. She is one of only three three-time members of the 2008 All-ACC Academic Team.
Costello, a native of Levittown, NY, played and started in all 17 games for the Eagles. She led the team in points (58) and was second in goals (42) and assists (16). She was named to the Northeast Regional All-America second-team.
Mahoney, a native of Westwood, MA, started 17 games and was the Eagles fourth leading scorer with 17 goals, 18 assists and 35 points. She led the team in assists (18) and ground balls (30). Mahoney was fourth on the team with 17 goals and started the season on an eight-game scoring steak. She scored in 14 of the 17 games.
