Terry Doyle racked up seven strikeouts in seven innings of work and Barry Butera and John Spatola each collected two hits to lead Boston College past the Duke Blue Devils, 3-2, in game one of the doubleheader.
Doyle (3-3) scattered seven hits in his seventh start of the season. His seven innings of work marked a season-high in ACC competition for the right-hander this year.
Nick Asselin fired two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn his first career save.
Barry Butera and John Spatola each went 2-for-4 with a RBI on the afternoon. Garret Smith added a hit, two runs scored and a RBI while Sam Shaughnessy went 1-for-1 with a RBI and three walks in the game one win.

In the bottom half of the inning, Butera singled to left field with the bases loaded to cut the deficit to one run at 2-1. Duke starter Andrew Wolcott got Michael Belfiore to fly out to center field to end the BC threat.
Wolcott put himself in a jam again in the third. The Eagles loaded the bases with two outs, but Wolcott enticed Spatola to fly out to left field to end the Eagles' threat.
The Eagles took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth when they scored two runs off two hits. Eric Campbell started the rally with a one-out double to left-center field. Campbell moved up to third on a Duke error and would later score on fielder's choice by Garret Smith. With two outs, Spatola drove in Smith with a RBI single to take the 3-2 advantage.

In the top of the second, Butera scored on a two-out RBI double to left-center field by Belfiore to extend the lead, 3-0.
BC added a run in the third when Shaughnessy laced a two-out double to the alley in left-center field to plate Campbell.
Houston worked out of a jam in the top of the fifth. The junior right-hander got Duke catcher Matt Williams to fly out to right field with runners on second and third to keep the 4-0 lead in tact.
In the sixth, Currier was chased from the game when Shaughnessy led off the inning with a single. Reliever Dennis O'Grady was greeted by a RBI doubles from Spatola and Butera to round out the BC scoring at 6-0.
