Santa Clara, Calif. - The Boston College softball team (7-8, 0-0 ACC) won its final game of the Bronco Stampede, beating Sacramento State (9-8), 2-1, in a rematch Sunday.
Freshman pitcher Allison Gage (3-5) won the pitcher's duel, earning her fourth complete game of the season. She faced 29 batters, allowed six hits and had no earned runs. Junior Renee Ramos drove in the Eagles' two runs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. She now leads the team with six RBIs this season.
Behind Gage's stellar pitching performance, the Eagles jumped ahead of the Hornets early, getting their two runs in the top of the first. After sophomore Amy Tunstall walked with two outs, Ramos homered to left center, bringing home Tunstall, and tallying two RBIs.
Gage kept the Hornets to five hits over six innings. Sacramento State scored one run in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't keep the rally going. The Eagles came out on top with a score of 2-1.
Boston College continues their California trip into next week, taking on Stanford on Tuesday, March 4 at 5 p.m. EST. Live stats will be available through gametracker.
