Jeanes, McGuire Sign Pro Contracts

Boston College graduates Nate Jeanes and Jared McGuire have signed professional baseball contracts.
Jeanes, a left-handed pitcher, recently signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and has been designated to the club's rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. Since signing the contract, he has appeared in four games and pitched 7.2 innings.
Jeanes, a native of Methuen, Mass., finished his senior season at BC ranked second on the team with 73.1 innings pitched. He registered a 4.66 earned run average and held opponents to a .281 batting average.
McGuire, who earned Big East Conference Player of the Year honors during his sophomore season, has joined the North Shore Spirit of the Canadian-American League. The Harwich, Mass., resident hit .278 with 35 runs batted in and a team-high five home runs as a senior leftfielder for the Eagles.
