Dedham, Mass. - The Boston College Men's Track and Field team kicked off its spring outdoor season over the weekend, competing in The Husky Invitational in Dedham, Mass. Competing against area school such as Stonehill College, Holy Cross, and host Northeastern, the Eagles runners fared well in a number of events.
BC's most dominating performance came in the 1500 meter run, where the Eagles placed 6 runners in the top-15 of a 50-man field. Senior Captain Mark Alizzi won the race, and was the only runner to break the four-minute barrier. His teammate and fellow Senior Captain, Stephen Walsh, finished second, while Sophomore Timothy Ritchie took fourth.
In the 10000 meter run, the Eagles flocked together, as five runners crossed the line within a second and a half of each other, taking places three through seven (Daniel Springer ('08), Patrick Mellea ('08), Jeremy Zagorski ('08), Jordan Peeples ('10), and David Emerson ('09)).
The 4x400 meter relay team of Ryan Diorio ('10), Sebastian Mansson ('09), Gregory Hassel ('09), and James Slattery ('09) bested the field to take first in the event. High Jumper Louis Canelli ('07) also placed first in his event with a winning jump of 1.93 meters.
The Eagles will compete next this weekend at the Southern Connecticut State University Invitational in New Haven, CT.
