
Men's Track And Field Take Fourth At UMass Invitational

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The men's track and field team competed in the UMass Invitational this past weekend in Amherst, Mass. Competing against seven other northeast-area teams, the Eagles took fourth place out of eight.
The men were at their best in the longer-distance running events. Junior Frank DiVittorio was victorious in the 800 meter run, coming in with a time of 1:56.07, a mere tenth of a second ahead of the second-place finisher from University of Maine. Sophomore Brendan Collins came in fourth place, picking up team points for the Eagles.
Junior Patrick Mellea took first in the 1500 meter race, besting the field by nearly two and a half seconds (3:49.55). His teammate junior Jeremy Zagorski took second place (3:51.94).
The 5000 meter event was also taken by the Eagles, as sophomore Timothy Ritchie paced the field in 14:52.25. Fellow sophomore David Emerson took fourth.
The Eagles also took third place in the 4x400 meter relay.
The track and field team will travel this weekend to the ACC Championships at the University of Maryland (April 19-21).
