CORAL GABLES, Fla. - After falling to Florida State Friday night, men's tennis headed south, looking to pick up their first ACC win, but dropped a 7-0 decision to 37th ranked Miami this afternoon. The loss is BC's sixth in a row and drops their overall record to 4-12 and 0-5 in conference play. The Hurricanes improve to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in ACC action.
The Hurricanes quickly got on the score sheet as the nation's 12th-ranked duo of Luigi D'Agord and Josh Cohen blanked Sam Wagner and Alex Rastorgouev, 8-0. The Eagles' other two tandems fought hard, but both dropped 8-4 scores respectively giving Miami the first point of the day.
Miami's Vivek Subramanian set the tone on the singles side of action, defeating Thomas Nolan in a hard fought 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 decision. With the absence of junior Jason Sechrist, coach Scott Wilkins needed to shuffle his lineup around. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the `Canes would not drop another set along the way as they would sweep the singles 6-0. 26th-ranked Luigi D'Agord had no trouble at the No. 1 position as he defeated Soma Kesthely, 6-3, 6-1.
The Eagles next return to action on Friday, March 30 when they take on North Carolina State at 7:00 p.m. at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass.
