2008 Baseball Schedule Released

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A total of 55 games - 30 conference, 25 non-conference - are scheduled for the Boston College baseball team for the upcoming 2008 season.
The Eagles enter their third year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, coming off a 12-17 record, 24-27-1 overall. BC opens their season in Statesboro, Ga., with a three-game series against Georgia Southern, Feb. 22-24.
Following their opening series, BC heads to Fort Myers, Fla. on Feb. 29, when they face the 2007 American East Champion Boston Red Sox. BC fell to the Red Sox, 9-1, last season. Despite the loss, outfielder Johnny Ayers hit a double off the first pitch from Daisuke Matsuzaka in a Red Sox uniform.
A spring break trip from March 1-9, includes 10 games, seven non-conference and three conference battles. BC, along with St. Bonaventure, Mount St. Mary's, Notre Dame and Lehigh will take part in the Palm Beach Challenge. Following the tournament, the Eagles play a pair of three-game series against Florida International and conference foe Miami.
BC travels to ACC opponents Clemson (March 14-16), Virginia Tech (March 20) and Virginia (March 21-23) before returning to the Heights to host Hartford (March 25) and Holy Cross (March 26) at Shea Field. The Eagles close out the month of March with a three-game series at Georgia Tech.
The month of April begins with non-conference games against Northeastern and Connecticut in Chestnut Hill. The Duke Blue Devils travel to BC for a three-game series, slated for April 4-6. After a game at Rhode Island, BC hosts five consecutive games. The first opponent is Northeastern, then a three-game series with Florida State, followed by a game against Massachusetts.
April 16 marks the date of the annual Bean Pot Tournament when BC battles Northeastern at Fenway Park.
April concludes with trips to North Carolina, NC State and Dartmouth. The Eagles host Hartford and Quinnipiac to close out the month. The May schedule consists of all home games prior to the ACC Championships. BC hosts Maryland, Connecticut and Wake Forest before the ACC Championships begin in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 21 and conclude on May 25.
