Football Picked Third in ACC Atlantic Preseason Poll

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. - Boston College was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Division in this year's preseason media poll. The selection was announced at the ACC Football Kickoff, which is being held at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The announcement came on the second and final day of interviews. Senior offensive guard Josh Beekman and senior strong safety Ryan Glasper represented Boston College on the event's first day. Head coach Tom O'Brien and the league's other 11 head coaches took center stage today.
In this year's media poll, Boston College was ranked third in the Atlantic Division, behind Florida State and Clemson. Maryland was predicted to finish fourth, followed by NC State and Wake Forest.
Florida State received 49 first-place votes. Clemson received 13 first-place votes, while BC was picked first by three voters.
In the Coastal Division, Miami was picked to finish first, followed by (in order) Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina and Duke. Miami received 52 first-place votes. Virginia Tech copped 10 first-place votes, while Georgia Tech received three first-place votes.
Georgia Tech junior wide receiver Calvin Johnson was an overwhelming choice as the ACC Preseason Player of the Year.
