Matt Meyer Selected In Major League Baseball Draft

Boston College junior pitcher Matt Meyer was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round (461st pick) of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.
Meyer, a lefthanded pitcher from Rochester, Minn., just completed his junior year at Boston College. He recorded a 4.57 earned run average in 45.1 innings of work. Meyer made 28 appearances, including four starts. He finished the 2006 season with a 2-2 record. Meyer registered 50 strikeouts, while allowing 22 walks.
In his first three years with the Eagles, Meyer has posted a 4.38 earned run average in 76.0 innings. He has 83 strikeouts and 40 walks. Meyer's career record is 5-4.
Meyer played with the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League during the summer of 2005. Making 16 relief appearances, he recorded a 2.17 earned run average in 29.0 innings.
The 30 Major League Baseball teams completed 18 rounds of the draft today. The second day of the draft will be held tomorrow.
Last spring, Boston College had five players selected in the MLB Draft. They were pitchers Mike Wlodarczyk and Joe Martinez; infielders Jason Delaney and Marco Albano; and outfielder Drew Locke.
