Women's Lacrosse Announces Spring 2007 Signees

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse head coach Bowen Holden has announced the signing of seven recruits- three attackers, two midfielders and two defenders for the 2007 spring season.
Attack
Suzanne Cannon, a four-time varsity lacrosse letterwinner at Northern Highlands Regional High School hails from Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. While at Northern Highlands she earned first team all North Jersey as well as first team all league. She also earned second team all-galaxy while playing with her club team, Metro Magic. Also a four year letterwinner in basketball, Cannon earned all county and all league in the sport as well as third team North Jersey during her four years.
Lauren Costello played four years of varsity lacrosse at Holy Trinity High School in Levittown, N.Y. As a junior she was named team MVP and senior year she was named team captain. She earned all-league accolades as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She also was a member of NYS team 2 for the national tournament. A four-year letterwinner in basketball and a two year letterwinner in volleyball, Costello also played for the Liberty Lacrosse club team.
Peyton Killeen, from Lewes, Del., played four years of varsity lacrosse at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. She earned MVP status her junior year and was named captain her senior year. An all-league selection in lacrosse she also played four years of varsity field hockey and was the MVP her junior year in addition to being a captain. Killeen also participated in two years of varsity track and played for the M&D lacrosse club team. Her team won the Vail Shootout and she was named to the 2005-2006 All-Galaxy Team.
Midfield
Blair Clancy played four years of varsity lacrosse at North Shore High school in Sea Cliff, N.Y. While at North Shore she played defense and midfield. She earned all county her junior year and was awarded the scholar athlete award from 2003-2005. Also at North Shore she earned four varsity letters in field hockey. She was an all-county field hockey player from 2003-2005. She was an academic All-American in 2005 and played for the Yellowjackets club lacrosse team.
Sarah Sedgwick, a five-year varsity midfielder from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, N.Y. was a three-time first team all-league selection in lacrosse. She also was an All Central New York selection in 2003 and 2005. Sedgwick was a member of New York State Team 1 in 2005 where her team was a national tournament finalist. In 2005 she was also a member of the CNY Empire State Bronze Medal winning team. While at CBA she played five years of varsity soccer where she earned first team all-league honors her junior and senior years. Sedgwick was a member of the NYWest Olympic Development Soccer team in 2001 and 2003. She also was a member of the Star riders Lacrosse Club.
Defense
Kelley Brennan, from Winnetka, Ill. attended New Trier Township High School. She earned all conference her sophomore year and first team all-state as a junior while New Trier placed third in the state competition from 2003-2005. She was named to the Great Lakes National team both sophomore and junior year. Brennan also was placed on the Illinois all-area team. While at New Trier she also earned four varsity letters in the sport of golf. An all-conference selection her junior and senior years, she also earned a spot on the all-area team. Brennan also excelled in the classroom as she was named to the honor roll all four years of high school while being named to the Illinois all-academic team. She played for the Wildcat Elite lacrosse club team.
Caitlin Burr, from Ellitcott City, Md. played three years of varsity lacrosse at Centennial High School. She was named to the all-county lacrosse team by the Baltimore Sun in 2005. She also earned all-county accolades in soccer and basketball while also being named team captain for all three sports. While at Centennial, Burr was an honor roll student as well as a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She earned the Maryland Distinguished Scholar as well as being an AP Scholar.
The Eagles ended their inaugural year in the ACC 8-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Six of BC's opponents this year were ranked in the top 13 in the country. The Eagles lose four seniors this year to graduation but return 10 starters.
"With the arrival of these seven student-athletes and the return of 10 starters and 18 players from the 2006 squad, the future of BC lacrosse is bright," Holden said. "I am looking forward to the athleticism and drive these seven young women will bring to the Heights, and I know great things will soon follow."
