Junior quarterback Matt Ryan completed 14-of-22 passes for 136 yards while sophomore backup QB Chris Crane completed 10-of-17 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns Saturday in Boston College's second intrasquad scrimmage of the spring season.
"I thought we were much improved today over last week, especially our younger players" Head Coach Tom O'Brien said. "We knew we had to step it up this week in practice, and the kids worked very hard. I was happy with their enthusiasm. We still need to show improvement as we head into the spring game."
Sophomore Brandon Robinson led all receivers with four catches for 51 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown reception from Crane. Walk-on receiver Greg Anderson had three catches for 47 yards, including a 22-yard TD reception from Crane.
The running back combo of Andre Callender, L.V. Whitworth and John Siravo gained 153 yards on 43 carries.
Senior safety Larry Anam intercepted a Ryan pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. Junior linebacker Tyronne Pruitt also registered an interception on a Ryan pass while sophomore linebacker Kevin Akins intercepted a Crane throw.
Place-kicker Ryan Ohliger connected on field goals from 37 and 48 yards.
The Eagles will conclude the 2006 spring practice season with the annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game on April 22 in Alumni Stadium.
