Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Amanda Klimczak earned her fourth win of the season, while allowing only one run on four hits as the Eagles defeated Maryland 4-1 on Sunday, April 23, at BC's Shea Field. The Eagles improve to 19-22 and 4-14 in the ACC, while Maryland drops to 28-22 and 6-11 in the conference. Renee Ramos was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single.
Maryland's Lindsay Klein homored in the top of the second inning to give the Terps the early lead, however in the bottom half catcher Ashley Obrest responded with her fifth home run of the season. It was her second home run in two days. Renee Ramos followed up with a double to left field, and Elena Ferrero put runners on first and third with a single to left-center field. When Britney Thompson was hit by the first pitch the Eagles loaded the bases. Amanda Booth reached on a fielder's choice and Ferrero scored on the play to give the Eagles the 2-1 edge.
In the fifth inning, Obrest collected her second RBI, driving in Carley McNary. Ramos singled down the right field line to score Kristin Allain and round out the scoring for the Eagles. After that Klimczak shut down the Terrapin offense allowing only one hit in the sixth inning.
Savana Lloyd earned her third save of the season, coming in on the mound in the seventh inning.
Boston College hosts Dartmouth on Tuesday, April 25 in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
