BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (7-7 overall) won its third game in a row with an 8-2 win over Florida Atlantic (7-12 overall) on Thursday, March 9 in Boca Raton, Fla. Jenna Macchi and Renee Ramos each collected three RBI. Macchi and Amanda Booth were three-for-four, while Britney Thompson was three-for-five.
The Eagles earned their first two runs at the top of the first inning, when Macchi reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on an error, driving in Kristin Allain. Ramos grounded out to the shortstop and drove in Thompson to put the Eagles on top, 2-0.
Boston College collected two more runs in the second inning when Macchi drove in Allain and Carley McNary. Florida Atlantic got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with Amy Bukovich's single to right field drove in Jen Musillo and Becky Brandies. The Eagles shutout Florida Atlantic in the final five innings, allowing only one hit.
Ashley Obrest singled to right field in the sixth inning and Macchi and Booth scored to collect BC's seventh and eighth runs of the game.
In the fourth inning Ramos drove in Macchi and Thompson with a double.
Savana Lloyd picked up her third win of the season, pitching six innings, and striking out five batters. Lloyd allowed two runs on three hits. Thompson pitched one inning, striking out one batter and allowing no hits.
Boston College takes to the mound on March 18, when they face NC State in Raleigh, N.C., their first Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.
