Softball Tops Florida Atlantic, 5-4, in Eight Innings

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Boston College softball team staged a five-run comeback in the seventh and eighth innings to top Florida Atlantic, 5-4, in the Florida Atlantic Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla, on March 5. The Eagles are now 4-5 overall.
The Eagles had been held scoreless through the first six innings, until Renee Ramos' single to right field drove in Ashley Obrest to put the Eagles on the scoreboard. Elena Ferrero doubled to left field, driving in Ramos, Jenna Macchi and Kristin Allain.
Amanda Booth's single in the eighth inning put the Eagles on top, 5-4, driving in Carley McNary.
The Eagles and Owls had remained scoreless through the first three innings before Florida Atlantic strung together back-to-back hits by Becky Brandeis and Amy Bukovich. The Owls went up by four in the sixth innings with hits from Bukovich and Vanessa Suarez.
Kristin Allain and Renee Ramos were 2-for-4 against the Owls. Britney Thompson pitched 7.2 innings allowing three runs on seven hits. Thompson collected five strikeouts. Savana Lloyd pitched 0.1 innings allowing one run on two hits.
The Eagles compete again on Tuesday, March 7, in a double-header against St. John's and Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. The Eagles will play St. John's at 1:00 and Central Florida at 5:00.
