Baseball Tames Pitt 10-5

Orlando, Fla. - Freshman Eric Campbell went 4 for 5 and drove in two runs as the Boston College baseball team collected 15 hits and defeated Pittsburgh 10-5 in Orlando Fla.
The Eagles grabbed an early lead in the top of the first when Shawn McGill drove in Dave Preziosi who was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After the Panthers tied it in the second, the Eagles struck for three more runs in the third. Preziosi reached on a error to start the inning and eventually scored on a balk. Campbell would drive in Ryan Hutchinson and McGill to give the Eagles the lead again.
BC blew the game open in the sixth inning when Ryne Reynoso doubled to score Campbell and Johnny Ayers who had both reached on singles to start the inning. Preziosi squeezed home Reynoso and McGill added an RBI single to give the Eagles a four run lead.
The Eagles added two insurance runs in the ninth for Michael Wanamaker who came on to pitch 4.2 innings of strong relief for starter Nate Jeanes. Wanamaker struck out five and surrendered only two hits to earn the win.
Five Eagles had multiple-hit games while BC also collected six stolen bases, including 3 three by Campbell. With an 8-1 record on the season, the Eagles will face St. Joseph's and Bethune-Cookman at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
