Baseball Set to Host UMass and Dartmouth

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — No. 23 Boston College Baseball will host UMass in the first round of the Beanpot on Tuesday, April 7 before hosting Dartmouth on April 8th. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be aired on ACCNX.
Record vs UMass
Boston College is 23-21 all-time against the Minutemen with a 10-12 record at home. The Eagles won the lone meeting with UMass last year, the only matchup in the Todd Interdonato era. Boston College won the matchup 13-6, which came in the Beanpot Third Place Game. Beck Milner went 4-5 that day with three RBI, including a solo shot in the eighth inning. Josiah Ragsdale had five RBI on the day with an eighth-inning grand slam. Kyle Kipp started for the Eagles and went 4.1 innings while striking out four. Gavin Soares earned the win with a 1.1-inning relief appearance, where he struck out three and did not allow a run.
Record vs Dartmouth
Boston College is 25-10 all-time against the Big Green with a 19-6 record at home. The Eagles won the lone matchup in Hanover last year, 12-2 in eight innings. Boston College had five guys record two RBI, while Jack Toomey and Kyle Wolff each had two hits. Brady Miller started that day and went three perfect innings, striking out three to earn the win.
Scouting the Minutemen
UMass is 6-17 and has a 2-13 conference record this year. The Minutemen lost two of three during the weekend at Northern Illinois. They won the first game of the series, 4-0, before losing 6-4 and 6-0. UMass is hitting .245 as a team this season and has two hitters hitting over .300. Anthony Tirado is the team's hits leader with 28, while batting .359. Ty Fox, who hits .317, leads the Minutemen in RBI with 17. Will Briggs is the home run leader with five so far. On the mound, UMass has five pitchers with 10-plus innings of work, led by Callen Powers, who has thrown 36.2 innings and has 33 strikeouts.
Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth is 6-15 with a 3-6 record in Ivy League play. The Big Green lost two of three during the weekend to Cornell. They dropped the first two contests before winning the finale, 15-0. Dartmouth is hitting .220 as a team, with Henry Murray leading the team at .309. Nico Bañez and A.J. DeMastrie are the hit and RBI leaders with 19 and 10 each. The Big Green have a staff ERA of 3.94. They have three pitchers with over 20 innings of work. Nate Isler leads Dartmouth in strikeouts with 38 while also pitching a team-high 36.1 innings.
Last Time Out
Boston College dropped two of three to sixth-ranked North Carolina. The Eagles took the first game, 6-1, but fell 5-2 and 8-7 to the Tar Heels. In the first game, A.J. Colarusso and Cesar Gonzalez combined to allow just one unearned run in the win. On the offensive side, Boston College had six players record an RBI while Gunnar Johnson was 3-3 at the plate. Johnson went a combined 5-10 over the weekend with two RBI and two walks. On Friday, the Eagles dropped game two 5-2, with Johnson having the lone RBI. In the finale, Boston College fell 8-7, but saw three RBI from Ty Mainolfi, who also had two hits to lead the group.
