Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Boston College baseball team out-hit Wake Forest 11-7, but could not push any runners across in a 5-0 loss to the No. 25 Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The Eagles have outscored opponents 22-4 in the first inning this season, but it was the Demon Deacons who jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Brnedan Enick singled home a run and Allan Dykstra would later score on a Terry Doyle balk to make the score 2-0 after one inning.
Wake Forest added one in the third when Andy Goff drew a walk to start the inning and stole second. Dustin Hood drove in the third run of the game for the Demon Deacons with a single.
In the sixth inning, the Eagles loaded the bases on singles by Ryan Hutchinson, Jared McGuire and Eric Campbell, but were not able to plate any runs. BC was able to put the leadoff man on in four innings, including two doubles, but were shutdown by the Wake Forest pitching each time.
Doyle scattered seven hits over six innings, and surrendered a two-run homer by Dykstra to account for the final two runs of the game. Nick Asselin and Matt Meyer tossed two scoreless innings of relief for BC.
The Eagles will continue the weekend series with Wake Forest tomorrow at 1 p.m.
