Kennesaw, Ga. - Terry Doyle earned his second win of the year, scattereing six hits in seven innings of work, while striking out eight and keeping Boston College undefeated with a 3-1 win over Kennesaw State.
Pete Frates got the Eagles on the board in the third by hitting his second home run in as many games and staking Doyle to a 1-0 lead. Doyle did not allow a runner to reach second base until the fifth inning, when he went on to strike out the side. The Owls tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth, but were shut down the rest of the way.
In the top of the seventh, Frates struck again, but in a quieter manner, squeezing home Shawn McGill who had singled to start the inning. Mark Ortega added an insurance run in the top of the ninth, singling home Johnny Ayers.
Kevin Boggan relieved Doyle and was untouchable again, striking out the final two Owls to earn his third save in three tries this season.
The Eagles will face Kennesaw State again Saturday at 4 p.m.
