Kennesaw, Ga. - The Boston College baseball team lost for the first time this season, 6-2 to Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Eagles once again grabbed an early lead in the top of the second inning when Pete Frates drove in Johnny Ayers who reached on a single of his own.
The Owls countered in the bottom of the third scoring six runs off BC pitching, five of which were charged to Eagles starter Matt Meyer. Nick Asselin and Dan Houston relieved Meyer and did not surrender a run the rest of the way. Houston threw 3.1 innings, striking out three and allowing three hits.
The Eagles were not able to overcome the deficit and were only able to manage one more run, an RBI single by Ryne Reynoso in the fourth. BC left nine men on base, including seven in scoring position.
The Boston Red Sox welcome the Eagles to Fort Myers for the annual spring exhibition next Friday.
