
Women's Cross Country Places Fourth at New England Championships

Boston, Mass. - Boston College women's cross country finished fourth at the New England Championships against 45 other schools at Franklin Park in Boston. The Eagles finished with 181 points, trailing only Boston University (126 points), Amherst College (135 points) and Middlebury (171 points). Quinnipiac rounded out the top five with 191 points. 46 colleges and universities and over 300 runners competed in the race.
The Eagles were led by sophomore Mallory Champa, who took fifith overall with a time of 17:34. Classmate Nichole Lister was eighth, crossing in 17:38, while freshman Brielle Chabot placed 13th with a time of 18:02. Freshmen Jessica Driscoll and Gretchen Andrus were 51st and 104th, respectively to round out the top five for Boston College. Driscoll finished in 18:43, while Andrus crossed in 19:18. Junior Jennifer Heyde also competed and finished the course in 19:22.
Runners Laurel Burdick, Kristen Coon, Jessica Flinn and Nikki Tufts did not compete in the race, but will run next week at the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday, October 14.
