
Men's Cross Country Finishes Seventh at ACC Championship

Charlottesville, Va. - The Boston College men's cross country team placed seventh at the ACC Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday. The Eagles finished with 196 points among their seven runners, and improved on their ninth place finish at the 2005 ACC Championships. NC State led the field with 31 points, while FSU (79 points), Virginia (87 points), Duke (124 points) and Clemson (132 points) rounded out the top finishers at the meet. Virginia Tech placed sixth with 145 points.
Boston College was led by junior Patrick Mellea, who earned All-ACC honors with his 12th place finish. Mellea crossed with a time of 24:41.7 in the 8k race. Mellea had previously been honored by the ACC this season, as he was named Performer of the Week on September 18.
Senior co-captain Mark Alizzi and sophomore Timothy Ritchie were the next Eagles to cross the line, finished 40th and 41st, respectively. Alizzi had a time of 25:53, while Ritchie crossed in 25:55.4 Classmate David Emerson placed 51st, finishing in 26:10.7. Freshman Jordan Peeples was 56th , crossing in 26:18.4.
Junior Jeff Klatsky and sophomore James LaGreca also competed at the championships. Klatsky ran a time of 26:31.5, while LaGreca finished in 26:46.6.
Boston College men's cross country will next compete on Saturday, November 11 at the NCAA Regionals in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
