
Junior Patrick Mellea Qualifies for NCAA Championships

Bronx, N.Y. - The Boston College men's cross country team placed tenth at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in the Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday. The Eagles finished with 278 points among their six runners and competed against 40 other schools in the 10k race. Iona (59 points), Providence (72 points), Syracuse (102 points), Harvard (161 points) and Columbia (182 points) placed first through fifth at the tournament.
Boston College was led by junior All-ACC runner Patrick Mellea, who qualified for the NCAA National Championships with his performance at the Northeast Regional. Mellea finished sixth out of 220 runners, crossing in 31:36.8. Mellea will join the Boston College women's cross country team in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, November 20 for the national meet hosted by Indiana State University.
Senior co-captain Mark Alizzi placed 45th at the meet with a time of 33:10.8. Sophomore Tim Ritchie was 65th, crossing in 33:35.4 , while freshman Jordan Peeple placed 70th, finishing in 33:45.9.
Sophomore David Emerson and junior Josh Springer rounded out the field for the Eagles. Emerson finished in 34:12.9, while Springer crossed in 34:56.4
