Providence, R.I. - Boston College sophomore Britney Thompson (Bountiful, Utah) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on May 9. It is the first time this season that an Eagle has been honored by the conference office.

Thompson pitched a seven-inning shutout at Dartmouth in game one of a twin bill with the Big Green. It was her third shutout of the season. Earlier in the year she blanked Bowling Green on March 4 (1-0) and UC-Riverside on March 8 (2-0). Against the Big Green, she struck out 10 batters, walked two and gave up only three hits in the 6-0 win. With the win, she improved to 9-10 in the circle. She helped herself at the plate, too, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Eagles finished the 2005 campaign with a 20-25 overall record and a 6-10 BIG EAST mark.
